Back to work, time for spring cleanups.

Today we did our first job, it was just a simple cleanup but it’s still nice to get back into the outdoor work. I was hoping for a little more snow before the end of winter but oh well. I’m sure everyone else is glad the snow is done for this winter.

So now is the time to cleanup your yard before all your perennials start to emerge. Lightly rake your beds to remove the dead leaves and whatever other debris has built up over the winter. Also cut down any of your ornamental grasses to ground level and any other perennial plants that have died back.

This is also a good time to rake your grass with a good stiff leaf rake to remove any excess thatch that has built up. It will also help to make the lawn recover faster from the winter.

First article is done

I put an article up today about the benefits of lawn aeration this will be the first in a series of articles having to do with lawn care. Hopefully this will provide some useful insight into the benefits of lawn aeration.

Warm weather = time to get things going

Well with all this warm weather I’ve decided to start my Smart Shopper (used to be the Pennysaver) add a bit early this year. It will be in next weeks issue and it will run all the way up till November. Also I’m starting to do a Kijiji ad this week.

Printing is done

The new postcards and business cards have been printed and are ready to go. It only took 5 days which is a great turn around time. I got them done at Mainstream Marketing and they look great!

Now all I have to do is mail them out. With how warm it is today I’m thinking I should probably do that soon.

Well I spent some time with the graphics designer this week and now I have the graphics done for the advertising I want to do this year. (click for larger version)

Vehicle repairs

I took my ‘02 2500HD in today to have it looked at, the front end suspension needs a lot of work, the universal for the front wheels is broken, the pitman arm, sway bar, ball joints, front brakes (pads and rotors) and some other stuff all need to be replaced as well as the rear axle seals needing replacement. Total cost $3000, this is price you have to pay for using a vehicle to snow plow.

Oh well, you have to pay to play. Still sucks though. :(

I’d just like to say Macdonald’s Automotive in Windsor did a great job and did the repairs promptly. The truck is running great now so thank you Barb and all the guys in the shop.

First landscaping quote of ‘09

Well I got my first quote for ‘09 on Belleperche in Windsor, thanks to Adrian for the referral. I used a new program to edit a picture of the house and add my design to help the home owner visualize what the finished landscaping will look like.

This is the original picture (click for larger image):

And this is what it looks like after editing with the landscape design program (click for larger image):

Now we just have to wait till spring to get started!

IE 6 the bane of my existence

Well I thought the website was done, it looked good in IE 7 but in IE 6 a bunch of things were messed up.

After a lot of pulling my hair out I finally got it to work, thanks to my computer scientist buddies for there help.

Please people, if you have IE 6, for the love of all things good upgrade to IE 7 or the latest FireFox. IE 6 has a list of bugs longer than my arm.

Pictures are uploaded

I uploaded pictures of a couple of the jobs I did last year. I kept forgeting to take before pictures and some I just neglected to take pictures of period. I’m going to try to be more on the ball about that this year. Anyway head on over to the portfolio to check them out.

Websites done (mostly)

I have finally gotten the hard part of the website, the code, done. Now all I have to do is add some content, this is just posting pictures, adding articles, and so on.
